Micro Rim – Mold Fabrication & Tooling

Injection molded plastic parts are made by shooting molten plastic into mold cavities-which are the negative shape of the part; letting the plastic cool; then opening the two halves of the mold and ejecting the finished plastic part(s).

Mold Fabrication (Tooling) design and development is key to the Injection Molding process.  A well-designed tool determines cycle times, material usage, and more.  Micro Rim’s Tooling Services group fabricates the best tooling in the industry.

Injection Mold Tooling

Injection mold tooling is relatively expensive, depending on how many parts the tool is designed to produce. When a small number of parts are desired, the tooling represents the bulk of the total cost. When a larger number of parts are run, the tooling cost shrinks relative to piece cost. When tooling cost is averaged into piece cost, the more parts run, the lower the relative tooling cost becomes.

The Micro Rim Advantage:  As long as Micro Rim is running a tool that we built, there will NEVER be any repair or maintenance charges for that tool.

Approval & Ownership - When the mold for your custom plastic part is complete, we run prototype sample parts for your approval. When you approve the sample parts we can move to the production phase of the process.  When you pay for your Mold Fabrication / Tooling, our terms indicate that you own and control the tooling.  You are free to collect your mold at any point whether Micro Rim produces the plastic parts or you have someone else produce them.  We hope you choose Micro Rim to produce your parts.
